C'è un'area romagnola, tra Rimini, Cesena e Forlì, dove l'allevamento intensivo dei polli è diffusissimo. Qui hanno sede i grandi nomi dei polli da supermercato. Da qui arriva il grido d'allarme: "non si vende più nulla a causa della paura per l'influenza aviaria. Ancora un mese così e il comparto scompare".
Magari fosse vero! Magari la paura dell'aviaria ponesse la parola fine a questi lager per polli e si tornasse ai pinnuti cresciuti nell'aia. Quelli buoni, casalinghi, ruspanti, oggi introvabili. E chi ci lavora negli allevamenti?
Beh, ormai il ricatto occupazionale non ha più senso in nessun comparto, l'occupazione è instabile ovunque e ancora si riesce a campare. Facendo altro. Inventando altro. Magari piccole fattorie dove fare polli più buoni e vivere meglio che a passare otto ore al giorno ad eviscerare carcasse.
Gli allevamenti di polli sono serviti a salvare popolazioni intere dalla fame. Questo non va dimenticato. Ma oggi, nel mercato globale, l'occidente abbonda di cibo. Dei polli allevati, delle loro puzze, dei loro liquami, dei loro veleni, dei loro antibiotici e della loro tristezza (in vita e nel piatto) si può fare benissimo a meno.
Purtroppo però il grido d'allarme lanciato dagli allevatori, compresi quelli che fanno la pubblicità in televisione al buon pollo italiano e poi sono cittadini di paesi sudamericani per convenienza fiscale, serve solo a cercare aiuti e prebende statali, soldi pubblici per "salvare" il settore.
Sono d'accordo con quanto scrivi e visto che ho dei conoscenti che sono allevatori di polli posso confermare che quei cappannoni si possono definire lager però solo dal punto di vista della densità. Però bisogna spiegare perchè sono "costretti" a fare così, si deve dire che i polli devono arrivare al peso in 50 giorni, non devono muoversi molto per dedicare alla crescita tutte le energie e infine perchè non tutti i consumatori sono disposti a pagare il pollo 8/10 euro al chilo.
I controlli sono veramente severi però non possono contribuire a migliorare il sapore della carne e gli allevatori di polli hanno sempre un recinto a parte dove allevano quelli che consumeranno personalmente.
Fabrizio, il consumatore paga oggi il pollo quasi come fosse immondizia. Qualcuno si ricorda quanto valeva, anche in termini di felicità familiare, un pollo negli anni Cinquanta? Per comprare un pollo di razza Valdarnese al mercato di Montevarchi - leggo nelle cronache dei primi anni Cinquanta - bisognava "svenarsi", ma era il re dei polli alla diavola e delle tavole dei giorni di festa.
Se invece del pollo tutti i giorni a pochi euro se ne mangia uno buono e ovviamente più costoso al mese si spende di meno e palato e salute ne guadagnano entrambi.
Sono nato nel 70 e fortunatamente in campagna perciò ho la possibilità di mangiare ancora dei buoni polli, mi è capitato di assaggiare un pollo allo spiedo del supermercato e l'ho trovato immangiabile. Però li vendono sempre tutti perchè ormai le persone sono convinte che il pollo sia così.

Caro Michele, anzi cara mamma Rosella (cui vanno i miei saluti affettuosi e non casuali), io delle migrazioni degli uccelli ricordo di aver imparato alle elementari, negli anni Sessanta, una verità mai smentita: avvengono da nord a sud e non da est ad ovest. Ovvero, con un po' più di malizia, credo che contagi veri o supposti arrivino non attraverso gli uccelli migratori, ma attraverso le "migrazioni" di polli e merci, più o meno controllate.
Poi, per fortuna, una volta arrostito il pollo l'influenza se va in fumo. Comunque abbiamo individuato un agriturismo con polli stupendi, non solo cresciuti ma pure nati lì. Nei prossimi giorni ne parliamo, annunciando la cena di cui al post sopra.
Ops, che casino, Alessandro, ho sbagliato mamma... Non avevo visto la firma ed ero convinto che si trattasse della mamma di Michele Isman, lei pure Rosella. Anzi, a proposito di mamme, pure la mia si chiama Rosa. A tutte le mamme - e rispettivi figlioli - chiedo scusa per la confusione;-)
